We have partnered with a top-tier global, full-service law firm to recruit a talented Junior Inquiries & Investigations Associate (1–3 years PQE).
This is a rare opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading public inquiry practices. You will play a significant role in a high-profile, sensitive public inquiry for a major public-sector client, while also working on complex corporate investigations and independent reviews.
Location is flexible, but at least four days a week will be required in London initially. Candidates based in London who are open to regional bases or travel in the longer term are strongly encouraged to apply.

You will join a nationally recognised, market-leading team with an unparalleled track record in the inquiries sector. The team regularly acts as Solicitors to statutory and non-statutory inquiries, represents Core Participants, and conducts independent reviews for high-profile public and private sector entities.
Recent and historical mandates handled by this group include major instructions on landmark proceedings such as:
- High-profile statutory public inquiries across law enforcement, national security, and public health sectors.
- Core Participant representation in major national infrastructure, historical abuse, and public safety inquiries.
- Independent corporate reviews and complex, sensitive investigations into organisational practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inquiry Representation: Act as Solicitor to statutory/non-statutory inquiries or represent Core Participants throughout the inquiry lifecycle.
- Evidence & Witness Handling: Conduct witness interviews, draft detailed witness statements, and attend inquiry hearings alongside Counsel.
- Document Review & Disclosure: Manage large-scale evidential review projects using e-Discovery platforms, handling sensitive information and detailed redactions.
- Strategic Advisory: Advise clients on inquiry procedure, statutory powers, fair process, privilege, data protection/FOI, public law/judicial review, and reputation management.
Candidate Profile:
Clearance & Mobility: Existing UK Security Clearance (SC or DV) is highly desirable. Candidates must be eligible to obtain clearance and be willing to work on-site in Central London 4–5 days per week initially, with ongoing travel flexibility as new instructions arise.
Qualification:
Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 1–3 years’ PQE.
Experience: Direct experience in public inquiries (acting as Solicitor to an Inquiry or for a Core Participant) and large-scale disclosure projects. Backgrounds in private practice, government, regulatory bodies, or the wider public sector are welcome.
Technical Skills: Outstanding analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail when handling sensitive material, and strong commercial awareness.
Working Style: Ability to thrive under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and collaborate effectively with clients, senior team members, and Counsel.
