We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel with expertise in commercial contracts to join our growing legal team.
In this role, you will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements while providing strategic legal advice to support the business’s operations and growth objectives.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including service agreements, software licenses, SaaS agreements, NDAs, DPAs and partnership agreements.
- Provide practical, concise legal advice on commercial and contractual matters to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with sales, product, and operations teams to develop and implement contract templates and processes to reduce legal risks and ensure compliance.
- Support the legal team in maintaining and updating internal policies and procedures.
- Provide ad hoc assistance with matters relating to IP and litigation with supervision.
- Stay informed about legal and regulatory developments relevant to the industry and provide proactive recommendations to ensure compliance.
- Support the legal team in various ad-hoc legal projects and initiatives as needed.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
Business Acumen & Style: Pragmatic, solution-oriented, and commercially astute, with a strong ability to build rapport with go-to-market teams, senior business stakeholders, and enterprise clients.
Qualified Solicitor: Qualified in England & Wales (or equivalent common law jurisdiction) with training at a leading private practice law firm or reputable technology-focused in-house team.
Experience Level: Ideally a minimum of 4 years’ post-qualification experience specialising in commercial contracts, IT/SaaS, Brand Protection, and digital technology law.
In-House Experience: Previous in-house legal experience would be an advantage – either through a direct permanent role or an extended secondment within a fast-paced, commercial tech or software environment.
Technical & Commercial Expertise:
Proven track record of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex SaaS agreements, Master Services Agreements (MSAs), software licences, and enterprise vendor contracts.
Strong working knowledge of data protection frameworks (UK GDPR and EU GDPR) and standard data processing agreements (DPAs).
Familiarity with risk allocation in relation to AI and digital IP solutions.
