A leading US law firm with a highly regarded global Finance practice is seeking a talented Finance Associate to join its London team, with a particular focus on Leveraged Finance. This is an excellent opportunity for a 3–4 PQE lawyer looking to develop their career within a market-leading practice and work on sophisticated, high-value financing transactions.
The successful candidate will work with leading private equity sponsors, financial institutions, borrowers and other market participants on a broad range of leveraged finance matters. The role offers significant exposure to complex domestic and cross-border transactions, working alongside experienced practitioners within a highly collaborative and internationally focused team.
The Team:
The Leveraged Finance team is part of a highly regarded international Finance practice, advising on some of the most significant and complex transactions in the market.
The team regularly acts for private equity sponsors, banks, alternative lenders and corporate borrowers across a broad range of leveraged finance transactions, including acquisition financings, refinancings, recapitalisations and other structured debt arrangements.
With a strong focus on private equity and sponsor-driven transactions, the team works on sophisticated matters involving complex financing structures and often involving multiple jurisdictions. Associates are given meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to work closely with senior lawyers and clients from an early stage.
Key Areas of Work:
- Advising private equity sponsors, lenders and borrowers on leveraged finance transactions
- Working on acquisition financings, refinancings, recapitalisations and other debt financings
- Drafting and negotiating facility agreements, intercreditor agreements and security documentation
- Advising on complex financing structures and associated legal and commercial issues
- Working on sophisticated cross-border transactions alongside international teams
- Managing elements of transactions with increasing levels of responsibility
- Working closely with corporate, private equity and other specialist teams on transactional matters

Candidate Profile:
- Ideally 3–4 PQE, with strong candidates slightly above or below this level considered
- Strong Banking & Finance experience, with a clear focus on Leveraged Finance
- Experience advising lenders, sponsors, borrowers or other key stakeholders on complex financing transactions
- Experience of acquisition finance and/or sponsor-backed transactions would be highly advantageous
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
- Strong academic and professional background
- Commercially minded and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively across jurisdictions and practice areas
