Associate (NQ – 2 PQE) sought for Employment team in Oxford, focusing on education sector, claimant/ respondent work, and business development.
The Role
My client is looking to recruit an ambitious Associate (NQ-2 years PQE) to join their Employment team in Oxford, starting in March 2025. The successful candidate will have strong experience in employment law, with particular preference for those with experience in the Higher Education sector. The role involves working closely with partners in Oxford and Cambridge on employment-related matters, including education sector work, claimant and respondent work, and corporate support. There will be significant opportunities for business development.
Responsibilities
The role will cover a wide range of employment law matters, with a focus on the education sector, police federation work, and both claimant (mainly senior executive) and respondent work. The successful candidate will contribute to the Employment team’s work, Education Sector group, and Business Services Division, while delivering high-quality commercial legal services. They will be expected to comply with quality standards and professional ethics, and be an ambassador for the firm.
Essential & Desirable Criteria
The ideal candidate will be a strong technician with a flair for business development and an eagerness to engage in limited advocacy and speak at training events. They must be admitted to the roll of solicitors (or due to qualify in March 2025), or a member of the Bar or FILEX. Specialist knowledge in the relevant areas of law is desirable, along with a willingness to think creatively.
